B Vitamins

There are numerous types of B vitamins. Some of them have names like Riboflavin, Thiamin, Biotin, or Folic Acid. Others are simply called Vitamin B6 or Vitamin B12. However, all of them have some role in helping your body beat stress. The most important B Vitamins for stress relief are B6, B12, Niacin or Niacinamide, and Folic Acid. however, taking a Vitamin B Complex supplement that has all of them in it will provide well rounded nutrition.

Niacin and Niacinamide, otherwise known as Vitamin B3, is particularly useful for stress in people who are struggling with alcohol addiction. The two compounds are the same, except that taking Niacin often gives people a flushed feeling that some may find uncomfortable, and Niacinamide avoids that.

Vitamin B6 is especially important for proper production of neurotransmitters. These chemicals in the brain are responsible for regulating our stress and emotions. They include Serotonin, Dopamine, GABA, Epinephrine and more.

Folic Acid, also known as Vitamin B9, optimizes many things about our brains and nervous systems. It is essential for proper gene expression and repair of nerves. It is also needed to produce important neurotransmitters that help to regulate anxiety.

Vitamin B12 might be the most important for brain health (and mental health!) yet, many people are deficient in this essential vitamin. Be sure to ask your doctor for a Serum B12 Level to check on your B12 levels.

Magnesium is one of the best best vitamins for stress. Yet, most Americans are deficient in it. Lack of magnesium leads to anxiety and depression, as well as some other health issues.

There are many magnesium supplements on the market, but many of them do not break the blood brain barrier. They only get absorbed in your intestines which is great for constipation issues, but does not cause magnesium absorption.

I recommend taking Magnesium Glycinate, Magnesium Threonate, or using a topical Magnesium supplement like Epsom Salts or Magnesium Oil.
